Cause

The VSE 8.x Access Protection feature allows you to block specific ports to prevent mass mailing worms or spams.

Solution

Manually exclude the process that is being blocked on the VSE.

Click Start -> All Programs -> McAfee -> VirusScan Console.

  1. Right-click Access Protection and select Properties.
  2. Click the Access Protection tab.
  3. Under Categories on the left, select Anti-virus Standard Protection.
  4. In the right pane, select Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail, then click edit.
  5. In the Processes to exclude section, type the process name, then click OK to close the Rule details window.
  6. Click Apply then close.

NOTE: Right Click Access Protection and check the Access Log to view the process using and it can be used to exclude.

Instead of excluding if you are disabling then there are chances that the server will send spams/worms.

Changing the same with Mcafee epo server (centralized server) to configure for  single/multiple clients

  1. Log in to the epo console.
  2. Go to Menu -> Policy Catalogue -> Filter for VirusScan Enterprise 8.X
  3. Select Access Protection Policies -> Access Protection Rules -> Anti-virus Standard Protection
  4. Edit -> Prevent Mass Mailing Worms from sending Email and exclude the processes which can send email(s).
  5. Save and close

It takes some time to get changed on the endpoints based on the sync time configured.
